On my way back to Venezuela
So, the journey was long.
I departed form Bangkok at 7 am, not knowing what was going to happen for sure!. There was no traffic and the toll fee was 50 baht because at 4am, they didn’t have change but oh well, it doesn’t matter!.
So… Air asia has a particular way to go… they have free seating so.. in my flight to Macau there were loads of chinese people queueing at the door waiting for it to be open. There i was too.. because i moved with the crowd wondering what was all that about. So well.. as soon as the gate was open… everybody ran but me.. i walked calmly enough to notice that if i turned right… it was the wrong way! - The plane was on the other side.. so the flock went right and i just laughed at my luck. I chose a good window seat near the emergency exit so i could stretch my legs.
The flight was ok. Made it to macau in one piece and.. had to pay for a visa on arrival. HK$100… Nobody speaks english or they’re not bothered. The island is tiny and frankly didn’t appeal to me… so i went outside to wait for any form of transportation to the ferry terminal. Ended up jumping in a bus, figuring it out because nobody helps!… i had a 29 kg suitcase, a 12 kg backpack and a laptop. I still made it and saw the ferries so i got off at the right bus stop.
Walked a lot, and saw a big mess and loads of people queueing again… so i walked right to the only empty counter and bought a ticket to kowloon. I had some info about it and knew pretty much what to do (i thought!). So well… more mess… and more difficulties to get IN the ferry, i struggled with all my luggage but finally got a seat. Something that called my attention was that the safety instructions are in chinese with chinese subtitles, and the life vest is so weird!, it has to be tied up in such an artistic way that people may die before putting it all together….
When i got to Kowloon i was pretty annoyed, but well, it looked more civilised than macau. And i should say that Hong Kong is AMAZING!. I lost my camera and i don’t know where or how!. So.. well..i headed to the MTR station, checked my bags to the airport (YES!!) and left my backpack to pick it up before heading to the airport. Not bad, not too expensive but certainly not the cheapest!.
Toured around the city and saw the filipino paradise… lol, All the adverts in Tagalog etc and loads of filipino food. I thought it was different than thailand but, hey… that was cute. I have some filipino friends and they are totally awesome.
After long walks and all, it was time to go to the airport and i rushed to the MTR Station to pick up my bag and catch the airport link from kowloon. It was very comfortable. Made it to the airport… thanking God i was fine and that i finally was going to rest in the plane…
So, the flight was delayed because a sliding door didn’t close and we were sat in there for two hours. I already knew i was going to miss my flight in London and Madrid… *sigh*. Remind me never flight with oasis again.. unless i pay for a business class seat… the flight lasted 12 and a half hours and the seats are TINY and uncomfortable. The food was good though :P/
Made it to london, tried to catch my flight but a woman in the british airwats flight connections stand made me come to my senses and convinced me not to run but change to the 2pm flight to madrid which i did. She was nice. I went to get my luggage and had to call mum so she could get in touch with Air Europa to change my flight from madrid…. which she did, and.. the only available flight would depart two days after.
Oh, btw… i bought a nice camera in Hong Kong.. a Sony Cybershot DSC-H3 … quite cheap!.
So well, stayed in madrid. Not bad… i managed to walk around the city etc… but the jet lag messed me up a lot so i was tired all the time.
The flight back to Venezuela didn’t have any problems at all, except that they changed the boarding gate like 4 times and one had to check the boards all the time. The flight was delayed for two hours but… what the heck, after all i went through… a little bit of time was nothing.
So i made it, safe and sound…. and here i am.. fighting with Jet lag, excited about leaving the country again and i’ve been here just over a couple of days. Isn’t that cool?
